Frequently Asked Questions

Q: WHAT IS THE WAGON TRAILS RECREATION COMMUNITY CENTER?
A: The Center is a members-only recreational facility that includes:
  • A junior Olympic-sized swimming pool with lap lane, volleyball and basketball hoop
  • A separate 18" deep baby wading pool
  • A 30 foot Splash Park with mushroom fountain and water tunnels
  • Snack Bar
  • Tennis court
  • Barbeque grills and picnic areas with a 24 foot covered pavilion area coming summer 2009
Q: WHERE IS THE CENTER LOCATED?
A: The Center is located at 6887 Level Land Drive, but the mailing address is P.O. Box 63446, COS, CO 80962.
Q: WHO CAN JOIN THE CENTER?
A: Membership is mandatory for residents of  the Wagon Trails subdivision and is not available to non-residents.
Q: HOW MUCH ARE THE ANNUAL DUES?
A: Membership dues are currently set at $250 per year which covers all members of your household. Dues are collected to pay for the operation and maintenance of the Center, including personnel such as the Center Director and lifeguards.  Additionally, dues will be used to accrue any capital improvement funds as the membership dictates.   As a homeowner in Wagon Trails, you must pay dues even if you choose not to utilize the Center. The current billing takes place in February with an April 15th due date; late fees ($45) are assessed for payments received after May 1st.  Dues are set every year by the membership at the Annual Membership Meeting - the third Tuesday of January each year.
Q: HOW ARE DUES PAID?
A: Dues are payable upon purchasing a home in Wagon Trails and annually  thereafter, by check or money order to the PO Box 63446 Colorado Springs CO 80962 address.  The due date for the dues is April 15th and a $45 late fee is added after May 1st - however payments in any amount may be made prior to the due date to the PO Box addressed to WTRA or Wagon Trails Rec.  PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR ADDRESS ON THE CHECK - as all of our accounts are by address, not name.
Q: ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL FEES?
A: No additional fees are mandatory. However, if you choose to take advantage of swimming lessons or pool party options, or should you need additional or replacement access cards, these amounts would be in addition to your annual fee.
Q: WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OPERATING AND MAINTAINING THE CENTER?
A: Wagon Trails Recreation Association, a Colorado not-for-profit corporation, which is comprised of the homeowners of the Wagon Trails subdivision and are members of the Center. Board members are elected for a 1-year term by the membership at the annual membership meeting, which is always held on the 3rd Tuesday in January.  A paid pool staff is employed by the organization for the operating season and a Business Manager is employed throughout the year.
Q: ARE GUESTS ALLOWED?
A: Yes, up to 5 guests per household are allowed as long as they are accompanied by a Center member and are not a member in default standing.
Q: WILL I RECEIVE A MEMBERSHIP CARD?
A: Yes, you will receive a permanent plastic key card that will provide you access to the gate for the pool and tennis court area when you complete and return the key application which should be provided by your title company at closing or is available at the Center or on this website.
Q: WHAT IF I NEED AN ADDITIONAL OR REPLACEMENT MEMBERSHIP CARD?
A: Send $5.00 to PO. BOX 63446, Colorado Springs, CO 80962 with the address indicated.  A replacement card will be mailed to you and a courtesy pass is available at the pool for the interim use.

 

Q: WHAT OCCURS IF I SELL MY HOME OR MOVE?
A: Should you move out of the Association area and rent your home, your tenants may have all the benefits of membership should you allow them this option.  Simply fill out the membership application for the access card and authorize them as the users.   As the homeowner, you retain responsibility for payment of annual membership dues and the right to vote at the annual meeting. Renters may vote by proxy if the homeowner so chooses.   For CIC documents please download from this site, and request statements by providing the address, lot and file number and closing date to our Business Manager at  mindirose@comcast.net.  Please provide a fax number so that bookkeeping can fax you back the documents within 3 to 7 business days.  There is a $10 charge for statements and $25 for a rush order.
Q: WILL MY DUES EVER INCREASE?
A: Dues for 2010 are $250. The Centers Board of Directors may increase annual dues in the future by an amount equal to the greater of 10 percent or the rate of inflation. Dues will only be increased by a membership vote.
Q: CAN I CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP?
A: No, if the lot on which your home is located was made part of the Association before you acquired your home, you are required to hold membership at the Center and to pay dues. If you have questions about the status of your home, check the map of the neighborhood and see if the location is within the boundaries.
Q: ARE THERE TENNIS OR SWIMMING LESSONS OFFERED?
A: Yes, both are offered . For more information, check with the recreation staff at 594-4883 or our current contractor - the Briargate YMCA.
Q: HOW DO I FIND OUT ABOUT EMPLOYMENT AT THE RECREATION CENTER?
A: Applications are accepted for lifeguard and instructor positions for persons over 16+ years old and over. Send an email to the Business Manager, Mindi Upchurch at mindi.upchurch@gmail.com. Wagon Trail Recreation Association is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
 
Q: WHO SHOULD I CONTACT ABOUT COVENANT ENFORCEMENT IN THE WAGON TRAILS NEIGHBORHOOD?
A: There are individual Architectural Control Committees (ACCs) throughout the neighborhood.  Nor'Wood Development Group has a list of volunteers to contact based on your filing number.  The WTRA and its employees and volunteers are not responsible for nor legally allowed to manage neighbor disputes or the enforcement of any covenants.     For a list of the ACC contacts,  click here.
